Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist

Job Description

Sheladia Associates is seeking a professional Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist to join our team for the upcoming CONSULTANCY SERVICES FOR THE CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISION OF MAPUTO BUS RAPID TRANSIT (BRT) CIVIL WORKS.

The overall objective of the consultancy services is to ensure that MOVE BRT system construction project is implemented within the time schedule, with applicable national legislation, international and accepted quality standards and agreed costs and in compliance with the World Bank environment and social safeguard policies. The BRT system construction project aims to improve mobility and accessibility along a selected corridor in the Maputo Metropolitan Area.

Qualifications

• University degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Geography, Environmental Management or Health and Safety;
• English language capability B2 level or higher.
• Proficiency in written and oral communication in Portuguese (B2 level or higher);
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• At least 10 years of experience in related field of expertise;
• Demonstrate / submit evidence of knowledge of ISO 9001 series - Quality Management System, ISO 14001 - Environmental Management System and ISO 45001 - Occupational Safety Management System, among other similar systems.
• Experience participating in the supervision of environmental impact assessment processes in Mozambique would be an advantage;
• Minimum relevant experience in three (3) operations during the last ten years, in the application of standards and procedures for environmental risk management, occupational health and safety in projects involving urban linear infrastructure in road, highway projects;
• Demonstrate previous experience in applying the World Bank Environmental and Social Standards (ESS) or Similar Guidelines in at least two development projects.
