An exclusive island lodge in Mozambique's Bazaruto Archipelago is seeking an experienced and people-focused HOSPITALITY TRAINER to lead the development of its in-house trainees and team.

This role blends structured classroom learning with hands-on, on-the-job coaching, and is ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys building people up and watching them grow into confident hospitality professionals. You'll work closely with lodge management to shape a training programme that reflects real operational needs, while guiding trainees through to full qualification.

Core Criteria:

  • Relevant hospitality qualification
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in hospitality operations, including exposure to both Front Office/Guest Services and Housekeeping
  • Previous experience in training, coaching, mentoring, or staff development
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and training administration
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Portuguese required
  • Training or Adult Education qualification advantageous
  • Experience with accredited learning programmes advantageous
  • Previous experience within luxury hospitality or lodge operations advantageous


Candidate Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a structured hospitality training curriculum through classroom instruction, practical demonstrations, and on-the-job coaching
  • Conduct training across Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, guest experience standards, and professional communication
  • Monitor trainee progress and provide ongoing feedback and coaching
  • Assess trainee competency through practical and theoretical evaluation
  • Work alongside operational teams to deliver hands-on training in real work settings
  • Maintain accurate training records, attendance registers, and assessment results
  • Coordinate assessments and support trainees through to certification
  • Partner with lodge leadership and department heads to identify training needs and enrich course content
  • Coordinate guest speakers, demonstrations, and mentorship input from the management team
  • Support existing employees through ongoing development pathways and career growth opportunities
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning across the lodge
  • Stay current on hospitality training trends and methodologies, refining the programme over time
