Job Title: Assets Equipment Inspector

Location: Afungi camp, Mozambique

Job Description:

Asset Lifting Equipment Inspector

  • Experienced in performing inspections, testing, and certification of cranes and lifting equipment to ensure adherence to safety standards, manufacturer guidelines, and applicable local regulation (below the list of the Equipment).
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical manuals, load charts, schematic and wiring diagrams, and parts catalogs to verify compliance with company safety policies and international inspection standards.
  • Capable of identifying mechanical, structural, hydraulic, and electrical faults, and documenting findings through comprehensive inspection reports.
  • Ensures all inspection activities are accurately recorded and that certifications are issued in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Contributes to the development and continuous improvement of inspection procedures and standardized checklists.
  • Skilled in report writing and experienced with various inspection software and digital tools.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work independently.
  • Familiarity with wire rope inspection criteria, NDT (non-destructive testing), and load testing methods.



Lifting equipment (RT crane, Crawler Crane, Forklift and Manlift)

  • Experience: Minimum 10 Years



HSE work practice:

  • Knowledge of the main risks during the operational activities and safe working and environmental protection procedure/practice and rules to be applied.
  • Knowledge of adequate personal protective equipment-purpose, use and maintenance.
  • knowledge and the correct use of permit to work system



Familiarity with international and local standards such as:

  • BS 7121 - Code of practice for safe use of cranes.
  • ISO 9927 - Cranes - Inspections.
  • ASME B30 series - Cranes and lifting equipment safety standards.
  • OSHA standards (if in the US or applying internationally).
  • LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations)



Technical Knowledge of:

  • Lifting Equipment such as: mobile cranes, tower cranes, overhead cranes, crawler cranes, pedestal cranes, forklift, manlift and scissor lift etc.
  • Lifting accessories: slings, shackles, eyebolts, hooks, spreader beams, lifting beams.
  • Understanding of structural integrity, stability, and load charts.
  • Hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems of cranes.
  • Wire rope construction, wear criteria, and discard standards.
  • Welding inspection basics for crane booms and load-bearing structures.
  • Familiarity with load testing procedures and safe working load (SWL) verification.



Mission:

  • Ensure planning, maintenance and upgrade of the Onshore equipment present in the job sites, plants and maintenance bases, through the maintenance teams, ensuring full compliance with projects schedules, job costs, quality and safety standards
  • Ensure purchase or rental for missing equipment following the planning activities



Tasks:

With regard to the equipment under own responsibility:

  • Define the planning of the equipment in coordination with Project/Bid proposal team: review of project request proposing alternative solution in way to optimize the Saipem Fleet utilization
  • Define possible purchase or rental of missing equipment
  • Define technical specifications indispensable to issue purchase or rental request
  • Follow the purchasing request until final test
  • Prepare reports highlighting needs for investments/disinvestments, managing the proposals for alienation in line with directives received
  • Collect and entry information in order to update the database of the equipment
  • Coordinate the repairs in case of serious breakdown
  • Coordinate and supervise the ordinary and extraordinary maintenance to ensure the full efficiency of the equipment
  • Manage and supervise the equipment in coordination with project team
  • Ensure technical support to the project for the implementation of the maintenance and the corrective actions to be implemented to solve the daily technical problems, within the assigned budgets
  • Ensure technical support to fulfill project needs in the rental market
  • Ensure availability of data/info necessary to prepare the technical proposal in support to the commercial activity of the Business Unit
  • Coordinate with BU in the definition of new design equipment to implement the fleet and new investment preparation of budgets and cost monitoring of ordinary/extraordinary maintenance, including estimated costs of repair and budget of restoration of the equipment after demob
  • Prepare budgets and cost monitoring of investments
  • Execute audit for inspection and ensure the co-ordination with persons in charge of routine and special maintenance activities
