Food Quality and Safety Officer

Food Quality and Safety Officer Drive our quality assurance standards, maintain our Food Safety Management System (FSMS), and ensure full compliance across our processing facility. Key Responsibilities System Management: Implement, review, and maintain HACCP plans and FSMS procedures to align with GMP, GHP, and company SOPs. Plant Oversight: Perform daily hygiene and safety inspections, monitor Critical Control Points (CCPs) and Prerequisite Programs (PRPs), and manage pest control and environmental monitoring. Testing & Traceability: Coordinate microbiological and physicochemical testing, manage equipment calibration, and oversee product traceability, recall readiness, and document control. Root Cause & CAPA: Lead investigations into deviations and customer complaints using root cause analysis tools (5 Whys, Ishikawa) to implement effective CAPA. Audits & Training: Prepare the site for internal, client, and third-party certification audits, and conduct food safety training for facility staff. Cross-Functional Alignment: Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, and Warehouse teams to maintain seamless compliance across operational workflows. Qualifications & Experience Education: Bachelor's degree in Food Engineering, Food Science, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, or a related field. Experience: Minimum 3 years in food safety/quality control, including FSMS implementation and audit participation. Experience in coconut or vegetable oil processing is a major plus. Languages & Tech: Fluent in Portuguese; intermediate-to-advanced English for international clients/audits. Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Technical Expertise & Preferred Certifications Deep knowledge of ISO 22000 / FSSC 22000, allergen control, and relevant food safety legislation. Preferred training/certifications: HACCP, ISO 22000 implementation, Root Cause Analysis, or Occupational Health & Safety.
